The Forum Threads: UFC Fight Night ‘Bigfoot vs. Arlovski 2’
By: Jeff Sherwood

Andrei Arlovski was the talk of the MMA world on Saturday, as he blitzed Antonio Silva en route to a violent first-round knockout in the UFC Fight Night “Bigfoot vs. Arlovski 2” main event at the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil. “The Pit Bull” looked like his old self in ringing up the stoppage 2:59 into round one, inserting himself back into the discussion as one of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s top heavyweights.
Now 35, Arlovski has won four fights in a row and six of his last seven. In a division starved for quality and depth, the Jackson-Wink MMA representative figures to draw more big-game hunts in the not-too-distant future.
Arlovski’s latest conquest spawned a number of intriguing threads on the Sherdog.net forums:
* ABLE CHALLENGER
* GOLDEN FUTURE
* WHAT LIES AHEAD
* CONFIDENCE VS. CAUTION
* IN STEEP DECLINE

This Week’s MMA Birthdays: Andrei Arlovski Turns 35
By: Brian Knapp
Andrei Arlovski turns 35 this week. | Photo: Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com
One of 13 men to have held the undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight crown, Andrei Arlovski will celebrate his 35th birthday on Feb. 4.
Arlovski captured the interim heavyweight title at UFC 51, defended it against Justin Eilers at UFC 53 and was later promoted to undisputed champion after a motorcycle accident left Frank Mir unable to compete. He retained the belt once -- Arlovski knocked out Paul Buentello in 15 seconds -- and then surrendered the title to Tim Sylvia at UFC 59. “The Pit Bull” compiled a 10-4 record in the UFC before parting ways with the promotion after defeating Jake O’Brien in March 2008.
Inconsistency followed, as Arlovski became something of a vagabond. The Belarusian sambo practitioner has won four of his past five bouts. Arlovski last appeared at a Fight Nights show in November, when he stopped Andreas Kraniotakes on second-round punches in his native Belarus.
Those in MMA celebrating a birthday during the week covering Feb. 2-Feb. 9:

Andrei Arlovski Still Recalls ‘Stupid’ Flying Knee Against Fedor Emelianenko
By: Sherdog.com Staff
Andrei Arlovski, on “Beatdown,” discussing which fight in his career he remembers the most:
“The stupid flying knee against [Fedor] Emelianenko, when I jumped for the f--king flying knee. I never did this and I did it once when I fought Ben Rothwell and I kind of hurt him with a flying knee. People went crazy. My friends went crazy. I thought to myself, ‘… Arlovski, you can do whatever you want.’ It was so stupid. I jumped [for the flying knee against Fedor] and lights out. Definitely I’m not going to do that anymore. … Pretty much often, I think about that stupid move … but it’s OK.”
