Women’s featherweight continues to chug along as Schrodinger’s division, so Wolf was a worthy flier to take for the UFC to possibly get something going at 145 pounds. An Olympic boxing hopeful who hit a roadblock when the Summer Games did not add her weight class, Wolf eventually pivoted to mixed martial arts, making her pro debut on Dana White’s Contender Series at age 37 in 2020. Given the circumstances, Wolf looked solid against current Invicta Fighting Championships bantamweight titleholder Taneisha Tennant. Wolf’s takedown defense was passable, particularly for a newcomer, though she did fade a bit as the fight went on. Two years later, Wolf makes her long-awaited UFC debut, getting thrown into what qualifies as the featherweight deep end. Dumont has done well for herself considering how poorly her UFC career started. After making hay as a bantamweight who could bully her opponents on the Brazilian regional scene, “The Immortal” looked clearly out of her depth against a much larger featherweight opponent in Megan Anderson, getting quickly knocked out for her troubles. Weight issues prevented Dumont from returning to 135 pounds, but she has turned into a solid enough striker against featherweight opposition, stringing together three wins before losing a grinding affair to Macy Chiasson in May. Wolf could easily get her UFC career off to a strong start—Dumont is likely to box with her early on and could get knocked out—but the bet is that the UFC veteran can survive long enough to either find her way to some wrestling success or just tire Wolf out. The pick is Dumont via decision.
