Another women’s bantamweight bout has been added to the UFC 170 lineup, as Alexis Davis will square off with Jessica Eye on Feb. 22.
Promotion officials announced the pairing on Monday. UFC 170 takes place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and is headlined by a 135-pound title tilt between Olympic medalists Ronda Rousey and Sara McMann. The card also includes the 205-pound debut of Daniel Cormier, who locks horns with Rashad Evans in the co-main event.
Davis, 29, was victorious in her first two Octagon appearances, outpointing Rosi Sexton at UFC 161 before taking a unanimous decision over Liz Carmouche at UFC Fight Night 31. The Cesar Gracie Fight Team representative also owns notable triumphs over Julie Kedzie, Amanda Nunes, Hitomi Akano and Shayna Baszler, to name a few.
Eye made her promotional debut in October, when she took a split-decision over former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman at UFC 166. Eye posted a 3-0 mark while competing for Bellator as a flyweight before receiving her release when the organization dissolved its women’s division in August. The 27-year-old Strong Style Fight Team product will carry an eight-fight winning streak into her bout with Davis.
