Poland native Michal Materla will make his Octagon debut on home soil when he meets Thiago Santos at UFC Fight Night 118.
Brazilian outlet Combate was the first to report the middleweight booking. While the report claims the contest will serve as the main event, the UFC has yet to formally announce the bout or its placement on the card. UFC Fight Night 118 takes place at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland, on Oct. 21 and streams in its entirety on UFC Fight Pass.
A longtime veteran of the Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki promotion, Materla enters his promotional debut with a 24-5 career mark. “Magic” last appeared at KSW 36 on Oct. 1, 2016, when he knocked out UFC veteran Rousimar Palhares in the second frame. Materla was arrested in Poland late last year for alleged ties to organized crime.
Santos, meanwhile, is riding the momentum of a two-fight winning streak following back-to-back TKO triumphs over Gerald Meerschaert and Jack Marshman. “Marreta” is 7-4 during his tenure with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
