John Dodson to Face Manny Gamburyan at UFC on Fox 19 in Tampa

John Dodson will make his return to the bantamweight division at UFC on Fox 19.

Both fighters recently confirmed the matchup via social media. UFC on Fox 19 takes place at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., on April 16 and is headlined by a lightweight showdown between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov. The evening’s main card will air on the Fox Network.

Dodson, won “The Ultimate Fighter 14” at 135 pounds, will compete at the weight class for the first time since he stopped T.J. Dillashaw in the first round at the reality show’s finale. “The Magician” has since compiled a 5-2 record at flyweight, with both of his losses coming in title bouts against reigning champion Demetrious Johnson.

Gamburyan, meanwhile, enters the matchup on a two-fight winning streak. The 34-year-old WEC veteran fought just once in 2015, taking a three-round verdict over Scott Jorgensen at UFC Fight Night in San Diego this past July. “The Anvil” is 6-6 in the Octagon overall.
