Former flyweight title challenger John Moraga will replace the injured Jussier da Silva and face Sergio Pettis at UFC Fight Night 103.

Promotion officials announced the change on Thursday. UFC Fight Night 103 takes place at Talking Stick Arena in Phoenix on Jan. 15 and is headlined by a featherweight showdown between B.J. Penn and Yair Rodriguez. The evening’s main card airs on Fox Sports 1.

Moraga, who was submitted in the fifth round by Demetrious Johnson in a 125-pound title bid at UFC on Fox 8, enters the matchup having dropped back-to-back fights. Most recently, the 32-year-old Arizonan suffered a split-decision loss to Matheus Nicolau Pereira at “The Ultimate Fighter 23” finale.

Pettis, meanwhile, is coming off consecutive decision triumphs over Chris Kelades and Chris Cariaso. The Roufusport product is 5-2 during his tenure with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
