John Salter will meet Kendall Grove in a middleweight contest at Bellator 181 on July 14.
The California-based promotion confirmed the pairing on Thursday. Bellator 181 takes place at Winstar Casino in Thackerville, Okla., and is headlined by a lightweight rematch between Patricky Freire and Derek Campos. The evening’s main card will air on Spike at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
Salte has established himself as a person of interest in Bellator’s 185-pound division. The Dethrone Base Camp representative has won eight of his last nine bouts overall and three in a row in Bellator. Most recently, Salter stopped Claudio Annicchiarico in the opening round at Bellator 168. He also owns triumphs over former middleweight champ Brandon Halsey and two-time UFC vet Dustin Jacoby.
A former Bellator title challenger and a 13-time UFC veteran, Grove had a two-fight winning streak snapped in October, when he fell to Alexander Shlemenko via second-round technical knockout at Bellator 162. “Da Spyder” has compiled a 4-3 mark in the Bellator cage and is 23-16 with one no contest as a professional overall.
