Jorge Masvidal Replaces Reza Madadi, Meets Michael Chiesa at UFC on Fox 8 in Seattle

Visa issues will prevent Reza Madadi from facing “Ultimate Fighter” Season 15 winner Michael Chiesa. In his stead, Chiesa now meets Strikeforce veteran Jorge Masvidal at UFC on Fox 8, according to a report from “UFC Tonight.”

The news was announced during Tuesday night’s episode of the weekly UFC program on Fuel TV. UFC on Fox 8 takes place July 27 at KeyArena in Seattle and will be headlined by a flyweight title tilt pitting reigning champion Demetrious Johnson against John Moraga.

Chiesa, 25, has yet to taste defeat as a pro, winning his first nine contests. “Maverick” ran through the “TUF 15” tournament last year, submitting cast mate Al Iaquinta with a rear-naked choke at the live finale this past June. Most recently, Chiesa finished Anton Kuivanen with the same hold, tapping the Finnish talent on Feb. 23 at UFC 157.

Masvidal, 28, returns to the Octagon following a successful UFC debut last month, as “Gamebred” outpointed Tim Means at UFC on Fox 7. The Floridian has been beaten just once in his last five fights, falling to then-Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez in a five-round decision to close out 2011.
