Keri Anne Melendez to Make Sophomore MMA Appearance at Bellator 180 in New York

By Tristen Critchfield May 23, 2017

Keri Anne Taylor-Melendez, the wife of UFC and Strikeforce veteran Gilbert Melendez, has received a spot on the Bellator 180 card.

Melendez will square off against Sadee Monseratte Williams in a strawweight affair on June 24 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Sherdog.com confirmed the bout with a promotion official on Tuesday following an initial report from the San Jose Mercury News. Bellator also announced a preliminary lightweight scrap between Bradley Desir and Nate Grebb as part of the promotion’s VOW veteran’s series.

Bellator 180 airs on Spike TV and serves as a lead-in to the promotion’s five-bout pay-per-view draw. Bellator 180 features a light heavyweight championship clash between Phil Davis and Ryan Bader as well as a featherweight showdown between James Gallagher and Chinzo Machida.

Melendez made her professional MMA debut at Bellator 165 this past November, when she stopped Sheila Padilla via technical knockout 47 seconds into the opening stanza. Williams, meanwhile, dropped her professional debut to Jenna Serio in a first round submission loss at Ring of Combat 55 in June 2016.

Editor's Note: This item was corrected at approximately 6:45 p.m. ET to indicate that the bout will be contested at strawweight instead of a 120-pound catch-weight.
