Lawlor Injured; Herman-Noke Greenlit for UFC Live 5

Middleweight Tom Lawlor has suffered an undisclosed injured and has been forced to withdraw from his UFC Live 5 bout with Kyle Noke, promotion officials announced on Friday. Replacing Lawlor will be 10-time Octagon veteran Ed Herman.

Headlined by a welterweight clash between heavy-handed Brit Dan Hardy and wily veteran Chris Lytle, UFC Live 5 marks the promotion’s inaugural trip to Milwaukee. Going down Aug. 14 from the Bradley Center, the event will also feature a pair of pivotal lightweight confrontations, as Jim Miller meets Benson Henderson and Charles Oliveira squares off with Donald Cerrone. The event will air live on the Versus network.

Noke has won his last five contests, racking up a perfect 3-0 record in the UFC. Formerly a cast member of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 11, the Aussie made his Octagon debut at the season’s finale 13 months ago. After earning a technical knockout over Josh Bryant, Noke went on to submit his next two foes, choking out both Rob Kimmons and Chris Camozzi in November and February, respectively.

Like his opponent, Herman (Pictured; file photo) is also a “TUF” veteran, fighting his way to the middleweight final of Season 3 before losing to Kendall Grove in the 2006 finale. The 30-year-old holds a 5-5 record inside the Octagon, besting the likes of David Loiseau, Scott Smith and Joe Doerksen during his UFC career. After a 2009 knee injury sustained in his bout with Aaron Simpson knocked Herman out of action for nearly two years, the Washington native returned to the cage in June, finishing Tim Credeur with punches in just 48 seconds at “The Ultimate Fighter 13” Finale.
