The Nevada Athletic Commission has requested that Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier attend a Sept. 23 hearing to address their brawl at an Aug. 4 press conference in Las Vegas.
The news was revealed during Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight. Cormier, who serves as an analyst on the show, confirmed the report.

The light heavyweights were promoting their main event bout at UFC 178 -- the fight has subsequently been moved to UFC 182 due to a Jones injury -- when both went head-to-head while posing for photographers. Cormier gave the champ a shove and “Bones” took exception, going after Cormier and shoving UFC Senior Director of Public Relations Dave Sholler into the stage’s backdrop in the process.
After the footage had made the rounds on the internet, the NAC requested a copy of the incident in order to come to a quick resolution in order to determine possible penalties for both fighters.
The UFC decided to allow the NAC to rule first, releasing this statement following the mishap.
“This is certainly not a proud moment for the UFC organization,” said Kirk Hendrick, the UFC’s Chief Legal Officer. “We expect more from our athletes, especially these two gentlemen, who are very well-trained and highly-educated professionals. Their actions were clearly a violation of the UFC’s code of conduct."
