Robbie Lawler-Rafael dos Anjos to Headline UFC on Fox 26 on Dec. 16 in Winnipeg
Robbie
Lawler will headline UFC on Fox 26 opposite Rafael dos
Anjos on Dec. 16 at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The
pivotal welterweight battle between former Ultimate Fighting
Championship titleholders on Thursday was made official.
Now operating out of Henri Hooft’s Combat Club, Lawler has won six of his past seven bouts, a knockout loss to Tyron Woodley his only misstep. The 35-year-old last appeared at UFC 214 in July, when he was awarded a three-round unanimous decision over Donald Cerrone at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Victories over Carlos Condit, Rory MacDonald, Johny Hendricks, Matt Brown and Jake Ellenberger highlight the Lawler resume, which includes a 602-day reign as UFC welterweight champion.
Dos Anjos has looked like a new man since he moved up to 170 pounds. The Evolve MMA rep has rattled off back-to-back wins against Tarec Saffiedine and Neil Magny following his Nov. 5 defeat to Tony Ferguson. Dos Anjos, 32, has delivered nearly half (14) of his 27 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
