UFC 214 Salaries: Jon Jones Takes Reported $500,000, While Daniel Cormier Earns $1 Million

By Jordan Breen Jul 31, 2017

Jon Jones might have knocked out Daniel Cormier and taken back the light heavyweight title at UFC 214 in Anaheim, California, but as far as the official books go, Cormier still took home twice what Jones did.

Monday, the California State Athletic Commission provided Sherdog.com a list of reported payouts for this past Saturday's UFC 214 card at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. In the main event, the aforementioned Jones felled his rival Cormier with a third-round head kick and followed up with punches to earn the stoppage. While it may be misleading given Jones' extra compensation and forthcoming pay-per-view revenue, officially, Jones earned $500,000 for his title conquest, while Cormier earned $1 million.

UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley also made $500,000 flat with no win bonus for his successful but uninspiring title defense against Demian Maia, who earned a reported $110,000. Newly-minted women's featherweight champion “Cyborg” Cristiane Justino made a reported $200,000 flat, while opponent Tonya Evinger made $100,000 in her UFC debut.

Other notable earners at UFC 214 include former welterweight king Robbie Lawler takes $300,000 including a $100,000 win bonus for his win over Donald Cerrone ($155,000), while fast-rising Volkan Oezdemir made $80,000 to show and $30,000 to win, racking up $110,000 for his knockout of Jimi Manuwa ($120,000).

Note: The disclosed purses reported by state athletic commissions do not include any performance-based or discretionary bonuses that may be awarded to a fighter by the promotion. Additionally, the reported figures do not reflect any deductions made by the commission for taxes, insurance, etc., and do not include any sponsorship money that a fighter may acquire for their performance.
