Ashlee Evans-Smith vs. Ketlen Vieira

Round 1

The bantamweights sling a few punches before entering the clinch, and now it's Vieira pushing Evans-Smith against the wall. They separate quickly and Vieira counters a lazy low kick from Evans-Smith with a right hand down the center. Vieira scores with another counter combination as she walks Evans-Smith backward toward the wall. Evans-Smith continues to work her low kicks, but the Brazilian is landing the harder shots with uppercuts and combos. Vieira stuffs a shot and digs an underhook to jam Evans-Smith against the wall again. Vieira drops for a single-leg, can't get anything going, but pops Evans-Smith with an uppercut on her way out of the clinch. Evans-Smith scores with a right hand, follows with a knee to the body and a leg kick. Vieira goes body-head with the right hand before pushing Evans-Smith against the fence, now looking for a trip takedown. Vieira nearly secures a takedown but Evans-Smith reaches her hand over the top of the fence and stays standing. Evans-Smith reverses the position and lands a clinch knee before the horn.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Vieira
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Vieira
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Vieira

Round 2

Vieira goes back to the body with her right hand early in the round, blocks a shot from Evans-Smith and runs the American against the fence again. Evans-Smith does well to fend off a bodylock takedown at first, but when Vieira adjusts her position, the Brazilian is able to drag her to the mat. Evans-Smith is back on her feet quickly but can't free herself from the clinch. The bantamweights split with just under three minutes on the clock. Evans-Smith lands a jab-low kick combo, gets swatted back with Vieira's right hook. Vieira continues to press forward and slams Evans-Smith with a pair of hard right hands, forcing Evans-Smith to back away and slowing the pace of the striking. Left hook-uppercut combo connects for Vieira, and it leaves Evans-Smith looking a bit stung. Evans-Smith comes back with a body kick in the final moments but eats a straight right hand in return.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Vieira
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Vieira
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Vieira

Round 3

Vieira gets tripped up as Evans-Smith comes forward and slips to the mat late in the first minute of the round. Evans-Smith tries to pounce, but Vieira jumps back to her feet, clinches up and gets a rear waistlock at the fence. Evans-Smith defends the takedown as Vieira works from behind her, stomping at the American's feet and kneeing the back of her legs. Referee Keith Peterson waits a minute before breaking up the fighters and bringing them back to the center. Evans-Smith is sporting a mouse under her right eye as she shoots inside, gets underhooked and pushed away. Measured striking from both fighters down the stretch, with Vieira pressing forward but looking to counter. The Brazilian has some damage near her left eye, too, possibly from a behind-the-back elbow Evans-Smith threw in their earlier stalemate position. Evans-Smith continues to pepper Vieira with leg kicks down the stretch but can't find a home for her right hand. Vieira cracks Evans-Smith with a pair of hard rights just before time expires.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Vieira (30-27 Vieira)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Evans-Smith (29-28 Vieira)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Vieira (30-27 Vieira)

The Official Result

Ketlen Vieira def. Ashlee Evans-Smith via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) R3 5:00

Nathan Coy vs. Zak Cummings

Round 1

Cummings mixes up his punches to the body and head of Coy in the opening minute, fending off a brief shot attempt as well. Coy strikes back with a left of his own, but Cummings seems unfazed and continues to stand tall in front of his opponent with his hands held low. Cummings continues to block Coy's attempt to step inside and tie up or shoot. Coy works a few leg kicks from the outside, comes over the top with a left hand and gets cracked back by Cummings' left hook. Coy finally times a punch from Cummings and shoots underneath, but Cummings sprawls well and defends the takedown. Cummings deftly snatches a guillotine in the scramble and rolls to full mount, where he squeezes the choke until Coy goes unconscious.

The Official Result

Zak Cummings def. Nathan Coy via Technical Submission (Guillotine Choke) R1 4:21

Andrew Sanchez vs. Anthony Smith

Round 1

Smith lands a knee to the body but gets caught off-balance, and Sanchez runs him backward to the fence. Sanchez completes a takedown and moves quickly to side control on Smith's left side. Smith reclaims half guard after a minute but remains jammed up against the base of the fence. Suddenly, Smith hits a nifty half guard sweep, and now it's "Lionheart" on top with half the round remaining. Sanchez holds Smith in tight half guard; Smith is trying to advance position but not doing much on top, and referee Keith Peterson brings the fighters back to their feet. Smith backs up Sanchez with a jab, a straight right. The middleweights trade leg kicks, Smith tries to step inside and gets cracked by a Sanchez right hand. Sanchez lands another right, then one to the body, now an uppercut as Smith comes inside again. Sanchez finishes the round working for a takedown at the fence.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Sanchez
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Sanchez
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Sanchez

Round 2

Sanchez throws a wild punch and slips to the ground, then takes a kick to the body as he stands again. Smith defends a takedown with his back to the fence, but back at striking range, Sanchez is finding a home for his long single right hands. Sanchez steps into the pocket, pushing Smith backward to the wall, and now "El Dirte" drops levels to score a takedown with half the round remaining. Smith rolls to his side and works two-on-one wrist control on Sanchez's right arm, allowing him to work back to his feet. Sanchez kicks out Smith's legs, bringing him right back to the ground, this time on his knees. Sanchez stays in riding position and thumps Smith's head with left hands. Smith powers back to his feet but Sanchez picks the ankle and flattens him out again.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Sanchez
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Sanchez
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Sanchez

Round 3

Smith lands some long punches to open the round, then covers up to deflect Sanchez's return fire. Smith whiffs on a punch and gets popped with a left high kick to the face. Smith continues to press forward as Sanchez looks increasingly tired. Sanchez slips on a takedown attempt but jumps back to his feet before Smith can capitalize. Big right hand lands for Smith as he walks the heavy-breathing Sanchez backward to the fence. Sanchez returns fire with an overhand right that forces Smith to take a few steps back. Down to the final 90 seconds now, Smith continues to step forward. He waits for Sanchez to throw a punch and counters with a flurry that puts Sanchez on his back foot. A pair of punches clip the backpedaling Sanchez, but it's a right high kick that puts him on the floor at the fence. Smith pounces and blasts Sanchez unconscious with follow-up punches, forcing referee Peterson to intervene.

The Official Result

Anthony Smith def. Andrew Sanchez via KO (Head Kick and Punches) R3 3:52

Devin Clark vs. Jake Collier

Round 1

Collier storms forward with a combination that finishes with a head kick, forcing Clark to turn away and create space. Clark comes back for a clinch on the fence, but he's spun around by Collier, and now the 205ers trade knees to the body in the tie-up. Collier releases and lands a spinning kick to the body, but there doesn't look to be much behind it. Clark gets Collier turned around with a right hand and runs him against the fence. Clark completes a takedown, Collier tries to stand and gets a hard knee to the body. Collier keeps moving and stands with about 80 seconds on the clock. Clark socks Collier with a hard right hand as "Brown Bear" runs him against the fence again. This time, Collier reverses the position; the fighters break with 20 seconds left and Clark shoots in for another takedown attempt just before the horn.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Clark
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Clark
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Clark

Round 2

After some sloppy early exchanges and a brief clinch, Clark lands a low blow with a stray knee and referee Dan Miragliotta calls time. Collier recovers quickly, the ref opts to not deduct a point from Clark for the accidental infraction, and the fight resumes. Clark connects with a right hand, backpedals to avoid Collier's return fire and scores a thudding kick to Collier's body. Collier catches Clark coming inside with a right hand, stuffs Clark's shot attempt and pushes him against the wall. Clark breaks loose and narrowly misses with a left high kick, and now the pace slows with both men dancing in and out of range. Clark catches Collier throwing a spinning kick and changes levels to bring Collier to the ground. Collier springs back up immediately but is held against the cage, so he reverses Clark and lands a knee before releasing. Clark gets another takedown almost immediately, this time transitioning straight to Collier's back with 50 seconds on the clock. Collier works back up again and steps forward on Clark with a leg kick; Clark answers with a kick to the body, and that's where the round ends.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Clark
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Clark
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Clark

Round 3

Clark wastes no time shooting for and completing a takedown at the fence; Collier immediately tries to use a kimura to sweep or stand, but Clark pulls the arm free and remains on top. Collier rolls to his knees, then climbs back to his feet, and now the light heavyweights work in the clinch. Clark releases and backs up to throw a big right hand, but Collier ducks underneath and grabs a bodylock. Clark reverses and trips Collier to the mat, and now it's Clark in top position with just about three minutes remaining. Clark slams Collier's face with a few short, hard elbows before stepping over to full mount. Collier goes belly-down, then tries to roll over again, but he gets caught on his side and then flattened out. Clark gives up back-mount in favor of ground-and-pound as Collier gets on his knees. Clark flattens out Collier again, this time from half guard, and grinds away with short elbows and punches as the final 90 seconds tick away. Clark fishes for a no-hooks rear-naked choke as Collier tries to stand, then dislodges Collier's mouthpiece with an under-the-arm left hand. Collier nearly stands, gets dragged back to the floor, but he manages to regain his footing just before the end of the bout.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Clark (30-27 Clark)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-8 Clark (30-26 Clark)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Clark (30-27 Clark)

The Official Result

Augusto Mendes vs. Aljamain Sterling

Round 1

Sterling opens with some heavy kicks to the lead leg of "Tanquinho," who spends the opening minute coming forward but isn't able to do much effective striking. Sterling goes to the body with a right hand, waits for Mendes to step forward again, then changes levels for a takedown at the base of the fence. Mendes shifts underneath and drops back for a heel hook, forcing Sterling to stand up and pull his leg free. Sterling kicks at the legs of Mendes until referee Mario Yamasaki orders the Brazilian back to his feet. Sterling gets clipped with a right hand and has to quickly extract his head from a guillotine as Mendes jumps guard. Mendes switches to a triangle/armbar attempt, then switches to an omoplata and sweeps to top position. Sterling sits up and drives forward as Mendes sizes him up for another guillotine. Sterling seems unfazed and easily frees his head again, and now it's Sterling on top with one minute left in the round. Mendes holds Sterling in butterfly guard as the New Yorker pounds away with short right hands to the ribs.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Sterling
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Sterling
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Sterling

Round 2

Sterling catches Mendes coming forward and clips the Brazilian with a right hand over the top. The "Funkmaster" presses Mendes against the wall with an underhook and stomps at his feet, then scores with a knee to the body. Mendes reverses with double underhooks, now with three minutes on the clock, looking to trip Sterling to the floor. Sterling hops on one foot but can't escape Mendes' clutches, and now Tanquinho scores with a knee to the body. There's not much happening in the clinch, and finally the bantamweights separate with 80 seconds left in the round. Sterling is pressing forward with punches on the suddenly tired-looking Mendes, but not landing anything cleanly. Sterling hits a trip takedown with 30 seconds left and now begins to score with some hammerfists in the final moments.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Sterling
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Sterling
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Sterling

Round 3

Sterling places a pair of left hands on the face of Mendes in the opening minute. After mixing in a few kicks, the New Yorker comes back with a clubbing left hook that turns Mendes' head. Sterling gets caught leaning inside and nearly has his neck snatched up by Mendes, but Sterling drops to his knees and frees himself from the potential choke. Back up comes Sterling to once again press Mendes against the cage with an underhook. Mendes reverses to the outside but can't do anything with the position before referee Yamasaki breaks up the fighters. Down to the final two minutes now, Mendes swings and misses with a big right hand but his momentum carries him forward and allows him to clinch Sterling against the wall. Sterling loops right hands around the back of Mendes' head, while Mendes seems content to lean Sterling against the wall. Sterling reverses, blocks an attempt by Mendes to reap a leg, then scores a takedown of his own. Mendes posts and stands immediately, marching forward on Sterling with 30 seconds on the clock. Sterling looks the fresher man down the stretch, evading Mendes' punches and countering with a big right hand. Sterling puts a pair of lefts on Mendes' jaw in the closing seconds, and this one will go to the judges.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Sterling (30-27 Sterling)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Sterling (30-27 Sterling)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Sterling (30-27 Sterling)

The Official Result

Aljamain Sterling def. Augusto Mendes via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) R3 5:00

Tim Elliott vs. Louis Smolka

Round 1

Elliott scores a near-instant takedown and forces Smolka to work his way out of an early guillotine attempt. The flyweights work their way back to their feet, where Smolka scores a throw of his own, but Elliott comes out on top in the ensuing scramble. Back up they come, followed by another Elliott takedown. Smolka stands again, gets taken down again, but this time he catches the incoming Elliott in a guillotine. Smolka loses the choke but uses it to sweep, only Elliott sweeps him right back. This time, it's Elliott on top in the center of the cage, but again Smolka is able to roll out of the bad position. The flyweights stand, Elliott shoots in behind a left hand and takes down Smolka once more. Smolka throws up an armbar, rolls to his knees and escapes to his feet. Elliott lands another takedown, landing in side control on Smolka's left, and now he opens up a cut on the outside of Smolka's right eye with a short, stapling elbow. Smolka sweeps to top position yet again, stands over Elliott and now comes back down to mount and land several punches.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Elliott
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Elliott
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Elliott

Round 2

Elliott wades inside with a wild right hand, shoots and completes a takedown but is immediately swept by Smolka with another headlock. Continuing the sequences from round one, Smolka is unable to maintain top position, stands and is taken down again by Elliott, who himself loses top control almost immediately. Another takedown for Elliott yields back control, but he can't catch Smolka in his rear-naked choke attempt. Elliott tries a crucifix from the back and pops Smolka with a few short punches before the Hawaiian is able to escape. Smolka drops back to try a heel hook, but Elliott pulls his leg free and passes to side control. Smolka rolls out and back to his feet, and with neither man able to control the other on the ground, the flyweights begin trading punches on the feet. Smolka gets too aggressive coming forward and allows Elliott to change levels for another takedown, now inside the final two minutes of round two. Smolka hits another guillotine sweep, loses it straight away and now it's Elliott back on top in side control. Elliott steps over to full mount with a guillotine of his own, but he can't lock his hands and Smolka is able to ride out the final 30 seconds on the bottom.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Elliott
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Elliott
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Elliott

Round 3

Elliott scores yet another takedown in the opening 30 seconds of the round, then moves to take the back as Smolka rolls to his knees. Smolka escapes to his feet again, tries to size up Elliott with punches but can't find the constantly moving target. Elliott hits another takedown, can't keep Smolka on the mat, but takes down the Hawaiian again almost as soon as he stands up. Elliott gets full mount this time and makes things uncomfortable for Smolka with a mounted body triangle. Smolka peels away the triangle and escapes to his feet, then catches the leaning Elliott in a brabo choke setup. Elliott clears his neck and stands, but Smolka with a rear waistlock ragdolls him back to the ground. Elliott fends off a no-hooks rear-naked choke attempt and sweeps to the top, but again Smolka is able to stand. Another takedown for Elliott, and another standup for Smolka, now inside the final minute. It's Smolka who hits the last takedown of the scramble-filled bout, and he finishes the fight working for a north-south choke.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Smolka (29-28 Elliott)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Elliott (30-27 Elliott)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10 (30-28 Elliott)

The Official Result

Tim Elliott def. Louis Smolka via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) R3 5:00

Bobby Green vs. Rashid Magomedov

Round 1

Green tries to step inside with a right hand and gets clipped by Magomedov with a swift counter left. Green clinches up and pushes the Russian against the fence with an underhook, throwing knees inside. Magomedov tries to return fire and lands a low blow, and referee Mario Yamasaki pauses the action. Green recovers quickly and the fight resumes with three and a half minutes on the clock. The lightweights dance in and out of range until Green steps inside, off-balance, and gets knocked to the ground with a left to the body. Green jumps back to his feet before Magomedov can pounce, and the lefty sticks "Highlander" with a straight left-leg kick combination. Green slowly works his way inside to clinch, then tries a trip takedown and a suplex but can't get Magomedov off balance. Green finishes the round holding Magomedov against the cage, landing knees to the legs.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Magomedov
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Magomedov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Magomedov

Round 2

Green sticks a jab, tries to step inside and gets picked off by Magomedov with a left-handed counter. Magomedov digs a left hand to the body; Green shakes his head and gives his opponent a few words. Magomedov lands a short left hand inside, opening a cut underneath Green's left eye; referee Yamasaki believes it was an eye poke and wrongly pauses the fight to give Green time to recover, while warning Magomedov that he will take a point for the next foul. When action resumes, Magomedov is a little more active, placing some hard shots on Green's grill. Green opts to clinch and pushes Magomedov against the cage to slow things down. Not much happens in the tie-up before the lightweights separate, and now it's Magomedov stepping forward again. Magomedov scores a quick takedown but Green's back hardly hits the mat before he scrambles to his feet again. Magomedov gets the final say in the round with a clean kick across Green's midsection.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Magomedov
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Magomedov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Magomedov

Round 3

Green swings forward with wild punches and gets countered by Magomedov with a crossing left hand, but there's little else in the way of effective striking through the first minute of the round. Magomedov scores with a body kick, then has to yank back his left leg as Green tries to grab hold and convert it for a takedown. Green lands a leg kick, tries to clinch up and gets pushed away. Low accuracy from both men in this round, with Magomedov twitching and feinting in front of Green, while the "King" stands out of range and throws mostly single strikes. Magomedov scores with a pair of punches and follows with a body kick, then goes to his back foot again. Green throws a low kick that lands to Magomedov's groin, and after another brief pause, the fight resumes. Green catches a body kick but can't keep hold of Magomedov's leg. Magomedov comes back with a left to the body, ducks under a punch from Green and sticks a stiff jab. Magomedov remains the more accurate fighter down the stretch, landing at a greater frequency in the fourth minute of the round and prompting Green to clinch again. Green holds Magomedov against a cag post and delivers knees to the legs and body until Magomedov escapes. Magomedov lands a Superman punch in the final 20 seconds, and again the judges will decide a winner.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Magomedov (30-27 Magomedov)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Magomedov (30-27 Magomedov)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Magomedov (30-27 Magomedov)

The Official Result

Rashid Magomedov def. Bobby Green via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) R3 5:00

Tom Duquesnoy vs. Patrick Williams

Round 1

Williams tries to chase down Duquesnoy with punches, can't find the mark but follows up with a hard leg kick. Duquesnoy shuts down Williams' first takedown attempt, but the American brings "Fire Kid" to the floor on his second attempt. Duquesnoy works back to his feet but takes a knee to the body and an uppercut before he can get away from Williams. Duquesnoy switches to southpaw as he steps forward on Williams and denies another takedown try. Williams catches a low kick and spins Duquesnoy around, then rides him to the ground near the fence. Duquesnoy begins to stand almost immediately, peels away Williams' hands and jumps up. Williams backs up to the fence and catches Duquesnoy coming in, dropping the French prospect with a lovely right hand. Duquesnoy stands up straight away and returns the favor with an uppercut to Williams' jaw. Down to the final minute of the opening round, and Duquesnoy is coming on strong as Williams appears to be tiring. The American's hands are low as he backs away and breathes in deeply. Williams is leaned over with hands on knees, and Duquesnoy catches him against the fence to drub him with an elbow to the face. Duquesnoy lands the elbow again just at the horn, knocking Williams to the deck, but Williams instinctively grabs for a single-leg as time runs out.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Duquesnoy
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Duquesnoy
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Duquesnoy

Round 2

Duquesnoy goes straight after Williams at the start of round two, attacking with a barrage of elbows and punches. Williams gets backed up to the fence, clubbed with one elbow, then another. Williams is still trying to swing back when Duquesnoy levels him with a right elbow to the temple. Referee Keith Peterson has seen enough and steps in to rescue the fallen Williams.

The Official Result

Tom Duquesnoy def. Patrick Williams via TKO (Elbows) R2 0:28

Roy Nelson vs. Alexander Volkov

Round 1

Volkov attacks with an early head kick which is blocked but knocks Nelson off balance, leading to a brief clinch on the fence. Nelson inches forward on the towering Russian, who fends off "Big Country" with some kicks to the body. Nelson shoots in on a single-leg, can't get it and winds up pressing Volkov against the wall with an underhook. Double underhooks for Nelson now, looking for the outside trip, but Volkov defends well and keeps his footing. Volkov reverses to the outside and gives Nelson a few knees to the gut. Nelson reaches around the back to hook Volkov's rear leg and now manages to complete the trip. Volkov sits up against the fence, nearly stands but has his right ankle picked out from under him, and Nelson maintains top position. Nelson puts the top of his head underneath Volkov's jaw and keeps his head trapped against the fence as he works to flatten out the Russian on the ground. Volkov is fishing for something from guard, perhaps a triangle or kimura, but Nelson is giving him no space to work. With little happening on the ground, referee Dan Miragliotta orders the fighters back to their feet inside the final 30 seconds. Volkov blitzes Nelson with punches and knees, forcing "Big Country" to back up to the cage. Nelson hangs in the pocket with Volkov, however, and even slugs "Drago" back with a big right hand just before the horn.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Nelson
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Volkov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Nelson

Round 2

Nelson looks a bit more tentative after a frantic end to the first round, but he soon works his way back inside and pins Volkov to the fence. Volkov works an overhook and wrist control, making it tough for Nelson to work for his double-leg. Volkov breaks loose and lands a pair of punches, followed by a kick to the midsection. Nelson steps forward again, hands low, then shoots in behind a leg kick to try the double. Volkov denies the shot and pushes Nelson back to the middle of the cage to resume striking. Volkov's jabs and kicks are keeping Nelson on the outside, but the former IFL heavyweight manages to get through with a bombing overhand right. Both big men are looking tired as they hit the final minute of round two, but it's Volkov continuing to snap off jabs and stifle Nelson's attacks. Volkov blocks an overhand right and dings Nelson with a counter right hand. Nelson tries a late shot, stuffed by Volkov, and Nelson gives him a mocking wide-eyed stare as time runs out.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Volkov
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Volkov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Volkov

Round 3

Volkov steps backward as Nelson comes forward, stuffing a shot from "Big Country" and roughing up the American with punches as he tries to get back to his feet. It's more measured striking and long jabs from Volkov here in the final round, never allowing the tired Nelson to get too close. Nelson is breathing heavy as he walks forward with his hands held low, Volkov continually placing front kicks in his breadbasket. Nelson charges forward and lands an uppercut, but after circling away, Volkov gets right back to his jabbing and kicking. Two minutes left as Nelson continues to try and get inside; instead, he gets more kicks to the midsection, more jabs to the face. Volkov rocks the head of Nelson with a right straight-uppercut and a kick to the body, then closes out the fight with a few more body kicks.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Volkov (29-28 Volkov)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Volkov (30-27 Volkov)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Volkov (29-28 Volkov)

The Official Result

Alexander Volkov def. Roy Nelson via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) R3 5:00

Renato Carneiro vs. Jeremy Stephens

Round 1

Carneiro opens with three or four solid leg kicks, then slips backward and leaves Stephens swinging at air with a big overhand. Stephens absorbs a few more low kicks as he continues to step forward, switching between stances as he tries to get the constantly moving "Moicano" in his sights. Carneiro connects with a right hand in the pocket and steps back out before Stephens can return fire. Stephens keeps coming forward and zaps the Brazilian with a right hand on the jaw. Carneiro backpedals away but his footing looks a little less steady now, and Stephens is beginning to close in on him near the fence. Carneiro ducks under a standing elbow strike and drives Stephens to the ground with ease, now inside the 90-second mark. Stephens rolls right to grab a kimura, slowing Carneiro's progress on the ground at half guard.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Carneiro
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Carneiro
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Carneiro

Round 2

Stephens drives low on a double-leg, pushes Carneiro to the fence, but the Brazilian gets under Stephens' arms and uses the whizzer to escape. Stephens is starting to find a home for his hands now, and Carneiro is looking a bit more flat-footed than he did in the previous round. Both featherweights connect with jabs, Stephens follows with a leg kick and "Moicano" counters with a body blow. Stephens continues to push forward, mixing more leg kicks into his combinations. Stephens sizes up Carneiro for a huge right hand, then an uppercut, but the Brazilian sees the telegraphed shots coming and circles away from danger. Carneiro is moving around more in the second half of round two, posing more problems for the shorter Stephens and his power punching.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Stephens
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Stephens
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Stephens

Round 3

Carneiro evades a few punches and clinches with Stephens, then trips him to the ground inside the first 30 seconds of round two. Stephens reaches for the kimura again, can't get it, but does manage to power back to his feet with 3:50 on the clock. Stephens walks straight forward on Carneiro, who circles around the edge of the cage, looking to counter. Stephens shuts down a shot from the Brazilian and bounces a pair of punches off Carneiro's gloves. A pair of punches from Carneiro bloody the nose of Stephens, and a chopping low kick nearly takes out "Lil Heathen" at the knee. Stephens swings and misses with a big right hand which connects on the chain link after Carneiro dashes out of range. The veteran is swinging for the fences but is increasingly left swinging at air, with Carneiro on his bike, always evading and waiting to counter. Stephens shuts down Carneiro's final takedown try and swings for the finish one more time as the final horn sounds.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Carneiro (29-28 Carneiro)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Carneiro (29-28 Carneiro)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Carneiro (29-28 Carneiro)

The Official Result

Renato Carneiro def. Jeremy Stephens via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) R3 5:00

Ronaldo ”Jacare” Souza vs. Robert Whittaker

Round 1

Whittaker tests the range with some long left hands and denies the first attempt by "Jacare" to tie up near the fence. Ninety seconds in, Souza gets the clinch and pins Whittaker to the fence, hits the Australian with a few knees inside and then takes him down. Whittaker tries to roll into top position but Souza keeps hold of an ankle and maintains control on the ground. Whittaker gets back to his feet, gets taken down again and has to escape quickly as Souza tries to take the back. The middleweights are back to striking in the center of the cage with two minutes on the clock. A big left from Whittaker knocks an off-balance Jacare to the ground, but the Brazilian is back on his feet without absorbing damage. Whittaker is starting to find the range with his hands now, clipping Souza with another right hand, now an uppercut. Souza takes back some ground with a pair of blasting overhand rights of his own as they hit the final minute of round one. Whittaker counters a wild punch from Souza with a speedy left-handed counter, then backs up the BJJ black belt with a straight left at the horn.

Round 2

A massive right hand from Whittaker floors "Jacare" in the first 30 seconds of the round. Whittaker tries to pounce and pound out his wounded opponent, but Souza ties him up in guard and limits the space for striking. Whittaker backs off, stands and wants Souza to do the same. Now it's Souza circling around the edge of the cage, circling directly into a right high kick from Whittaker. The tables have turned as Whittaker stalks from the center, picking his shots as Souza tries to clear the cobwebs. Souza remains on unsteady feet through the middle of the round, and Whittaker does not let up on the pressure. Another right high kick to the face puts "Jacare" on wobbly legs; Whittaker hustles him to the floor and begins punching away, though Souza is avoiding many of the strikes by using his legs to push the standing Whittaker away. Souza rolls to his knees, and referee Mario Yamasaki picks a strange time to step in for the stoppage. Souza, who was clearly hurt from the head kick and ate several punches on the ground, appeared to be moving toward a better position. Nonetheless, the ref's decision stands, and Robert Whittaker has pulled off the upset.

Rose Namajunas vs. Michelle Waterson

Round 1

Namajunas takes a wide stance in the center of the cage and presses out toward the southpaw Waterson, who circles to her right near the fence. Waterson lands a side kick to the body, then one to the face, and when Namajunas steps inside, Waterson drags her to the ground with a head-and-arm throw. Namajunas lands on her right side and throws her left leg over the top of Waterson, looking to take the back. Namajunas gets both hooks in and immediately goes hunting for a rear-naked choke, and suddenly it's "Thug Rose" in control with back-mount and more than three minutes on the clock. Waterson puts her back on the mat and Namajunas transitions to top position in Waterson's butterfly guard. Waterson uses rubber guard to close up the space, then goes back to closed guard as Namajunas looks to stack her up at the base of the fence. Waterson is controlling Namajunas' left arm, angling for an armbar, so Namajunas smashes her in the face with a pair of hard right hands. Waterson explodes to her feet but eats a knee on the way, and now the strawweights separate with under a minute remaining. Namajunas steps in to clinch, gets a knee to the midsection but completes a takedown on Waterson before the round ends.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Namajunas
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Namajunas
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Namajunas

Round 2

Waterson looks to keep the longer Namajunas at bay with stomping side kicks and body shots. Namajunas gets the "Karate Hottie" turned around on a combination and floors Waterson with a perfectly timed right high kick to the jaw. Waterson looks to have recovered already as Namajunas follows her to the ground and tries unsuccessfully to pound out her wounded foe. Waterson wraps up Namajunas in rubber guard again, slowing the pace as they hit minute three of round two. Waterson kicks away Namajunas and scrambles to her feet, but Namajunas comes back and jumps on the back of Waterson as she stands. Namajunas slaps on a standing rear-naked choke and rides Waterson back to the ground. The choke is tight, and Waterson tries to fight her way free, but the former Invicta champion is forced to submit.

UFC Flyweight Championship:
Demetrious Johnson vs. Wilson Reis

Round 1

Referee Dan Miragliotta is the third man in the cage for tonight's 125-pound championship bout, with judges Sal D'Amato, Marcos Rosales and Cardo Urso scoring the fight. The champion Johnson ducks in and out of range in the opening minute, picking at Reis' legs with a few kicks and dodging the challenger's early right hands. "Mighty Mouse" plants a right hand on Reis, changes levels and quickly comes back to his feet as Reis blocks the first shot of the bout. Reis catches a low kick and runs Johnson to the ground, but Johnson immediately turns it to a whizzer and gets back on his feet. Johnson circles the outside and allows Reis to come forward, the champion continuing to score with leg kicks while keeping his hands in Reis' face with short bursts of punches. Reis is swinging big single punches and mostly coming up short; the Brazilian finds success with another takedown but again is unable to keep Johnson on the floor for more than a split-second.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Johnson
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Johnson
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Johnson

Round 2

Reis comes out aggressive again in round two, swinging at the champion with big single punches and kicks. He gets wrapped up by Johnson in a standing rear waistlock but Johnson can't do anything with the position and soon releases. A straight right hand from "Mighty Mouse" splits the gloves of Reis. Johnson loops his left arm around the waist of Reis and feeds the Brazilian a few short right hands while standing. The flyweights separate and continue to bounce around the cage, and now it's Johnson blocking a takedown attempt from his challenger. Reis catches a low kick and lands a straight left hand counter, but Johnson seems unperturbed by the strike. Johnson connects with a clean body kick, circles off and caps the incoming Reis with a stiff jab. A short left hook to the jaw of Reis lands with a pop as Johnson continues to overwhelm the challenger. Johnson hits Reis with a beautiful step-through knee in the final 15 seconds and comes close to pounding him out, but Reis is saved by the horn.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Johnson
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-8 Johnson
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Johnson

Round 3

Johnson continues to work off his back foot in the first minute of round three, while Reis keeps charging forward, trying to walk down the fleet-footed champion. Reis finds success with a few leg kicks but he's stuffed to the ground when he tries to take down Johnson in the second minute. Johnson wants Reis back on his feet, and once there, "Mighty Mouse" feeds the challenger several short punches to the mush. The flyweights exchange body kicks, with Johnson's looking to have a bit more zip on it. Still, Reis is relentless, always walking toward Johnson and working to cut off Johnson's angles. Johnson lands a looping right hand and shoots in behind it for an easy takedown. Straight to side control goes the champ, now looking for a choke in north-south position as Reis rolls to his knees. Reis goes to his back again, reclaims half guard as they hit the final minute before the championship rounds. Johnson sits up and slices open Reis with an elbow to the face. Deep half guard for Reis now as Johnson threatens to step over to full mount. Johnson takes mount and postures up with 20 seconds left, teeing off with punches on the bloodied Reis. With the clock ticking down, Johnson peels off to the side and extends Reis' left arm in a textbook armbar. Reis resists for a moment, but the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is forced to tap out with just seconds left in the round. Demetrious Johnson defends his UFC flyweight title for the 10th time, tying the record for consecutive defenses set by former middleweight king Anderson Silva.
