Jeremy Stephens will square off against Renato Carneiro in a featherweight duel at UFC on Fox 24.
The Las Vegas-based promotion recently confirmed the pairing. UFC on Fox 24 takes place at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo., on April 15 and features a strawweight clash between Michelle Waterson and Rose Namajunas. The main card will be televised on the Fox Network (offshore sportsbooks).
Stephens split a pair of bouts during his 2016 campaign, as he outpointed ex-bantamweight champ Renan Barao at UFC Fight Night 88 in June before suffering a decision loss to former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 205 in November. “Lil Heathen” is 5-4 since moving to featherweight from 155 pounds.
Carneiro enters the matchup with a 10-0-1 career mark. The Constrictor Team representative debuted in the Octagon with a second-round submission of Tom Niinimaki at UFC Fight Night 58 in December 2014 and followed that performance with a split decision triumph over Zubaira Tukhugov at UFC 198 this past May. The 27-year-old Brazilian has finished five of his triumphs by submission, while five more have gone the distance.
