Video: A Very Rare Double Knockout ... With a Winner, Too

Double knockouts are a rarity in mixed martial arts, but we've seen them before. It's even less often you get a double knockout that has a winner.

This past Saturday night at Shamrock Fighting Championships 285 at the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, Mo., a featherweight bout between Axel Cazares and Alan Vasquez ended up going down in infamy. In the first round, the two fighters both threw simultaneous right hands and clobbered each other, both falling to the mat.

In a fashion vaguely reminiscent of Matt Hughes winning his first Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight crown from Carlos Newton after unconsciously powerbombing him out of a triangle choke, it was Vasquez who was able to gain his wherewithal faster and make it to his feet. As a result, referee Mike England declared Vasquez the winner by knockout.
