Rumble on the Rock 7: Cabbage vs. Tank II

Jay Carter vs. Josh
Versola
CARTER:
Big wins – Bryson Kamaka
I will not profess to know a lot about these two fighters. Jay Carter fights for BJ Penn and
is at least 2-0 in MMA. He holds a win over a member of the Kamaka
family in a ROTR Proving Ground show so I have to believe he’ll
continue to shine here.
Thales Leite vs. TBA
Big wins – Flavio Moura
Leite appears to be a tough customer. Anyone who can take out the Luta Livre demon Flavio Moura by submission and take out his next opponent with strikes in the same night has to be for real. From all accounts he is 4-0 and it would’ve been nice to see this guy in there with another undefeated rising star but as of Thursday, no opponent has been announced.
Ricco Rodriguez vs. Scott Junk
RODRIGUEZ:
Big wins – Randy Couture, Andrei Arlovski, Tsuyoshi Kohsaka, Pete Williams, Jeff Monson, Scott Adams, Gary Goodridge, John Marsh, Paul Buentello
Big losses: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Tim Sylvia, Pedro Rizzo, Bobby Hoffman
I couldn’t find any experience for Junk and Ricco is a former UFC champion so I think we know how this one is going to go. Ricco turned down a rematch with Arlovski because he didn’t have time to train for it and the money wasn’t right. If he still has what it takes and wants to get back to the top, he should finish this guy quickly and prepare to face the interim champ.
Allan Goes vs. Chris West
GOES:
Big wins – Vernon White, Todd Bjurnthun
Big losses: Dan Henderson, Mark Coleman, Alex Stiebling, Gustavo Machado
Draws: Frank Shamrock, Kazushi Sakuraba
WEST:
Big wins – Augie Padekan
West is 3-0 and trains BJJ and Muay Thai under Haru Shimanishi so he’s going to be a handful. Goes runs the BJJ program out of the L.A. Boxing Gym and though he hasn’t fought in two years, he usually puts on a good show. With all of his experience, I have to favor the Brazilian but it should be a competitive match-up. Also, given the fact West hasn’t fought since 2000, it could be rough going for the stand-up striker against a man who gave Sakuraba one of his greatest technical battles ever.
