Life-changing money will be on the line when Brendan Loughnane meets Bubba Jenkins in the 2022 Professional Fighters League Championships lightweight final this Friday at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York. A $1 million prize goes to the winner.
Loughnane enters the cage on the strength of a three-fight winning streak. The 2019 Dana White’s Contender Series alum advanced to the final at PFL 9, where he took a three-round unanimous decision from former Ring of Combat titleholder Chris Wade on Aug. 20. Jenkins, meanwhile, has rattled off three consecutive victories. The onetime NCAA wrestling champion punched his ticket to the final on Aug. 20, when he dispatched Tribe Tokyo MMA’s Ryoji Kudo with a rear-naked choke in the first round of their PFL 9 pairing.
As Loughnane and Jenkins make final preparations for their high-stakes showdown at 155 pounds, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:
32: Years of age for Loughnane, who was born on Dec. 5, 1989 in Manchester, England.
12: Loughnane wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 50% of his career total (24). His list of victims includes Sheymon Moraes, Mike Wilkinson and David Lee. Loughnane holds one other win by submission (4%)—he put away Danny Welsh with a rear-naked choke at an Ultimate Cage Championships show on April 27, 2012—and 11 more by decision (46%).
51: Seconds needed for Loughnane to punch Dave Straughton into submission at Cage Conflict 8 on Feb. 26, 2011. Nearly 12 years later, it remains his fastest finish to date.
52: Rounds completed by Loughnane as a professional mixed martial artist. He has gone the distance on 15 different occasions and carries an 11-4 (.733) record in those bouts.
.714: Cumulative winning percentage between the four men—Movlid Khaybulaev, Pat Healy, Tom Duquesnoy and Mike Wilkinson—who have beaten Loughnane. They sport a combined record of 78-31-1.
34: Years of age for Jenkins, who was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on Feb. 5, 1988.
7: Jenkins victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 37% of his career total (19). His list of victims includes Lucas Martins, Joe Wilk and Poppies Martinez. Jenkins owns three other victories by submission (16%) and nine more by decision (47%).
455: Days since Jenkins last experienced a setback. He rebounded from his Aug. 27, 2021 decision loss to Wade in the PFL semifinals by besting Kyle Bochniak, Reinaldo Ekson and the aforementioned Kudo in succession.
6: Organizations in which Jenkins has plied his mixed martial arts trade. He has gone 8-3 in Bellator MMA, 5-1 in the Professional Fighters League, 2-0 in Tachi Palace Fights, 2-0 in Brave Combat Federation, 1-1 in Absolute Championship Berkut and 1-0 in the Resurrection Fighting Alliance.
96: Combined wins between the four men—Wade, Georgi Karakhanyan (twice), Ali Bagov and LaRue Burley—who have defeated Jenkins. They boast a .726 cumulative winning percentage at 96-36-1.
