Condit contemplated retirement following a first-round submission loss to Demian Maia at UFC on Fox 21 in August 2016. However, “The Natural Born Killer” recently took to Twitter to ask matchmaker Sean Shelby for an Octagon return date in December, and his wish was granted. Condit has twice challenged for the undisputed welterweight title, falling to Robbie Lawler at UFC 195 and Georges St. Pierre at UFC 154. He captured the interim crown with a five-round verdict over Nick Diaz at UFC 143.
Magny has been one of the division’s most prolific welterweights in recent years. The Elevation Fight Team product has compiled an 11-3 record since 2014, with wins over the likes of Johny Hendricks, Hector Lombard, Kelvin Gastelum and Tim Means. Most recently, the 30-year-old was submitted in the first round by Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 215.
