Bellator 241 Weigh-in Results: 3 Fighters Fail To Make Weight, 1 Fight Off

Bellator MMA only has one card in March, but Bellator 241 is filled with interesting scraps, and there was some controversy on the scales ahead of the event.

The Uncasville, Connecticut-based event is headlined by a featherweight title fight as Patricio Freire will look to defend his belt against Pedro Carvalho and move on to the next stage of the Bellator featherweight world grand prix. The champion’s next defense will also be made as the other remaining quarterfinal, Emmanuel Sanchez vs. Daniel Weichel, is set as the card’s co-main event.

Freire (30-4) is currently on a five-fight win streak that saw him capture both the featherweight and lightweight belts. He most recently bested Juan Archuleta in the opening round of the tourney with a dominant decision win. Before that, the Brazilian knocked out Michael Chandler to become a two-division champion. Ever the professional, “Pitbull” had no issue making weight and came in at 145 pounds on the dot.

Carvalho (11-3) has been perfect in his Bellator career as the Portuguese fighter has racked up four victories inside the promotion. He submitted Sam Sicilia with a face crank to earn this title opportunity and will look to rise to the occasion in what is the biggest fight of his career. The SBG Ireland fighter officially weighed 145 pounds.

The weigh-ins weren’t drama free as several fighters missed weight. Dominic Mazzotta came in 3.5 pounds heavy for his featherweight bout and Mark Lemminger was half a pound over the welterweight limit. Meanwhile, Kenneth Rivera didn’t bother to weigh-in at all and his fight with Mike Kimbel is now off as a result.

Bellator 241 will stream live on Dazn on Friday, starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.4:30 p.m. PT
