Fau Vake, 25, was injured during an altercation last Sunday in Auckland, New Zealand, that occurred at 3 a.m. local time on Symonds Street. Vake had been on life support before his death, per the report. City Kickboxing released a statement regarding Vake’s passing.

“It is with inexplicable sadness almost seven days to the hour after his hospital admission, Fau’s fight to find his way back to us ended,” the statement read. “At this tragic time, the Vake family and City Kickboxing ask for time to grieve and reflect on the loss of Fau – a father, a son and a much loved brother to us all. We will speak when the time is right to ensure Fau’s loss is not forgotten, but for now please respect our privacy.”

Four men have been arrested and charged in the alleged incident, according to the Herald. All four — three of whom are 29 and a third is 32 — appeared in Auckland District Court on Monday. According to the Herald, two men are charged with common assault. Another is charged with two counts of assaulting with intent to injure, while a fourth is charged with wounding with intent and injuring with intent.

Vake leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter. According to the Sherdog database, Vake has 1-0 amateur MMA record.
