Colby Covington: Khabib Nurmagomedov ‘Couldn’t Even Finish a Real Estate Agent’

Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight contender and professional trash talker Colby Covington is at it again, this time taking a shot at the newly crowned lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedov won the UFC lightweight belt earlier this month with one-sided victory over short-notice opponent Al Iaquinta. The win improved the Dagestani’s perfect professional mixed martial arts record to 26-0.

While “The Eagle” is soaring at lightweight, Covington is clearly unimpressed with what he’s seen of Nurmagomedov, particularly in his last fight against Iaquinta. Covington, who will fight for the interim UFC welterweight belt against former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos on June 9 at UFC 225, believes if the Dagestani fought the way he did at welterweight that he would get exposed.

Covington was a recent guest on MMA Junkie Radio and warned Nurmagomedov to stay at 155 pounds:

“I think it works for the little lightweight division, but that (expletive) doesn’t fly at welterweight. You’ve got a real All-American wrestler, not some sambo dude, so if he comes up to welterweight, he’s going to get his head dunked and balls put on his forehead just like the rest of them. I don’t think he’s that impressive. He couldn’t even finish a real estate agent. That’s (expletive) sad.”

Nurmagomedov’s first title defense has not been confirmed yet, but is favoured to take on Irish superstar Conor McGregor in November at a Madison Square Garden. However this is all speculation as McGregor must first attend his court date on June 14 to answer charges of three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief.
