Damien Brown Eyes Spot in Rizin Lightweight Grand Prix

Damien Brown is currently a free agent. After leaving the UFC and signing with Rizin on a two-fight deal, he went 2-0 and has yet to get a new contract.

The Aussie is confident he will be back in Rizin and eyes a spot in their upcoming lightweight grand prix.

“I want to fight for Rizin and I want to represent Rizin in Bellator,” Brown said to Sherdog.com. “I want to fight for those two promotions. I think I deserve to be in the lightweight grand prix. I feel like at 2-0 it is a no-brainer for them to re-sign me, so I don’t know why I haven’t been re-signed.”

“Beatdown” would consider going back to his previous promotional home if offered a spot on UFC 243 in his home country of Australia. For now, however, he is focused on returning to Rizin.

“Rizin has treated me awesome, and payed me awesome. I am old school and fighting in grand prix is a career goal. It is a bucket list thing,” he explained. “For me, that is my personal goal, but if the UFC wanted someone for the Australia card, I’m available. Especially to fight in Melbourne. I mean I have already talked to the UFC twice for short notice since being released. But, I like Japan and the way Rizin looks after me so that is the focus.”

Brown says he hopes to sign with a promotion in the coming weeks.
