Devon Alexander vs. Aaron Martinez to Headline Next PBC on ESPN Card
ESPN announced Thursday afternoon that its next iteration of Premier Boxing Champions’ PBC on ESPN card will take place on Oct. 14 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz. Former two-time world champion Devon Alexander will take on Aaron Martinez in the event’s headliner.
Alexander (26-3, 14 KOs) desperately needs to get his career back on track after winning world titles at junior welterweight and welterweight. He’s dropped two of his last three bouts, with his most recent outing being an uninspired 12-round unanimous decision loss to Amir Khan last December. A win over Jesus Soto Karass was sandwiched between the loss to Khan and a unanimous decision defeat to Shawn Porter.

The network also announced that the co-featured bout will see IBF featherweight titlist Lee Selby (21-1, 8 KOs) defend his crown against former three-division world champion Fernando Montiel. Selby, from Wales, has looked tremendous over the past few years but he’s never faced anybody with the sort of pedigree as Montiel (54-4-2, 39 KOs), who has won eight consecutive bouts.
The event will air live on ESPN starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
It was also announced that the next PBC on ESPN after Alexander-Martinez will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 25. And with football season about to be in full swing, the future PBC on ESPN cards will be on Wednesday nights instead of Saturday nights.
