Elias Theodorou vs. Derek Brunson Announced for UFC Ottawa on May 4

A middleweight clash between Elias Theodorou and Derek Brunson is set for UFC Ottawa on May 4.

The Las Vegas-based promotion confirmed the booking on Wednesday. UFC Ottawa takes place at the Canadian Tire Center and will likely air on ESPN+. Theodorou vs. Brunson is not expected to be the evening’s headliner. A women’s bantamweight clash pitting Sarah Moras against Leah Letson was also announced for card.

Five other bouts were confirmed by the promotion to TSN : Marc-Andre Barriault vs. Andrew Sanchez at middleweight; Arjan Singh Bhullar vs. Juan Adams at heavyweight; Brad Katona vs. Merab Dvalishvili at bantamweight; Aiemann Zahabi vs. Vince Morales at bantamweight and Mitch Gagnon vs. Brian Kelleher at bantamweight.

Theodorou enters the matchup with Brunson having won five of his last six Octagon appearances. Most recently, “The Spartan” garnered a split-decision triumph against Eryk Anders at UFC 231 on Dec. 8. The Ontario native has gone the distance in his last seven UFC bouts.

Brunson, meanwhile, is looking to return to the win column after suffering consecutive KO/TKO defeats at the hands of Israel Adesanya and Ronaldo Souza. The North Carolina native is 9-5 over the course of his promotional tenure, with seven of those victories coming inside of a round.
