Jon Anik: Six or Seven Title Fights Possible for UFC White House Event
Commentator Jon Anik claims the
UFC White House card could be filled with title
fights.
President Donald Trump recently said that there could be eight to nine title fights at UFC White House on June 14. While Anik believes eight is an ambitious number, he revealed plans for six or seven title fights. Anik notes that UFC 324 is scheduled for Jan. 24, followed by UFC 325 a week later. The champions from those numbered events should ideally be ready to fight again in June. Meanwhile, UFC 326 in March will be headlined by a BMF title fight between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira, which won’t impact plans for title fights at the White House.
“Eight sounds idealistic and awfully ambitious,” Anik said on the "JAXXON Podcast”. “But I do believe that we are moving in a direction in which you might see six or seven undisputed titles contested on the White House lawn… They are getting UFC 324 and UFC 325 in the can by Feb. 1… The first numbered event in March is getting headlined by a non-undisputed title, the BMF belt, which doesn’t really count. Then you think a numbered event in April or May, and then on June 14, a lot of these champions are going to be available if not held out.”
President Trump initially announced plans for the White House card last year. A plethora of fighters have since been rallying for a spot on the White House card. While Conor McGregor is teasing a return, Jon Jones ended his retirement within weeks and is pleading with Dana White for a spot at the White House.
