Rising middleweight superstar Israel Adesanya takes on his toughest test to date when he locks horns with arguably the greatest middleweight ever in Anderson Silva at UFC 234 in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday.
Adesanya has often been compared to a young Silva as they share a similar fighting style. “The Last Stylebender” has also drawn comparisons to light heavyweight champ Jon Jones, but “Bones” says he doesn’t see it.
In fact, Jones said that beyond a similar body type and skin tone he doesn’t see any similarities when discussing fighting styles (via MMA Mania):
“We have similar body types and we’re both black,” Jones said. “And that’s about it. I don’t think we fight alike, I don’t think we fight similar. I do a lot of wrestling, heavy ground-and-pound, a lot of submissions – I strike in both stances, I feel like our games are very different.
“But I do respect him, a lot,” Jones added. “I think he is going to be a force to be reckoned with. He is great for the sport, great talker and he finishes fights. He is a very exciting young man.”
