Keri Melendez, the wife of UFC fighter and ex-Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez, will compete in her fourth professional MMA bout when she meets Mandy Polk at Bellator 229.
Sherdog.com confirmed the booking with a promotion official following an initial report from ESPN. Bellator 229 takes place at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif., on Oct. 4 and is headlined by a welterweight clash between Andrey Koreshkov and Lorenz Larkin. Melendez vs. Polk will be contested at a 118-pound catchweight and is expected to air on the evening’s main card.
Melendez, 35, has been victorious in her initial three appearances under the Bellator MMA banner. In her last outing, the Skrap Pack representative took a split verdict over Dakota Zimmerman at Bellator 206 in September 2018.
Polk, meanwhile, has compiled three-fight winning streak on the regional scene after suffering a first-round submission loss to current UFC talent Mackenzie Dern at Legacy Fighting Alliance 24 in October 2017.
