Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Father Labels Title Bout ‘A Dream Fight for Fans of MMA’

View this post on Instagram

#ufc247

It looks like the long-awaited title fight between current Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight king Khabib Nurmagomedov and former interim champ Tony Ferguson is edging closer to becoming a reality after UFC President Dana White confirmed with ESPN that the promotion is looking at their April card in Brooklyn as a possible host.

Nurmagomedov’s father has taken to his Instagram account to drum up the hype between the pair, labelling the matchup as “a dream fight for all fans of mixed martial arts” (via BJPenn.com:)

“We have signed a contract and are moving towards the goal to become the best regardless of the weight category. And this battle is more than ever to become the best. Both are on a collision course, and I want to say that the UFC never met fighters for both so that there were 12 consecutive wins. I call it a dream fight for all fans of mixed martial arts. We will do everything in our power to bring victory to our fans and Russia, and the result is for the Almighty.”

Ferguson is also keen on getting the fight announced when he reached out to White on Twitter to inform him that he’s “open for business.”

“The Eagle” currently holds a perfect 28-0 record in his professional MMA career, with notable wins over the likes of Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Al Iaquinta.

Ferguson holds the record of most consecutive wins in UFC lightweight history (with 12) and has notable wins over Anthony Pettis, Donald Cerrone and Kevin Lee.

If the fight does indeed get booked it will be the fifth time the promotion have attempted to get both men to fight one another after the first four attempts failed as a result of injuries and a failed weight cut. Advertisement
