LFA 11 Weigh-in Results: Matthew Frincu, Late Replacement Maicon Mendonca on Point
Legacy Fighting Alliance is slated to electrify Comerica
Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona, Friday night with a stellar
middleweight encounter as the headliner, but even with an injury to
a key fighter on the marquee, it’s all systems go.
Middleweight contender Daniel Madrid suffered an injury heading into his final days of pre-fight prep and had to be pulled from the card. Madrid’s opponent, Matthew Frincu, is a natural welterweight and cut back down to his more comfortable 170 pounds to remain in the main event. Stepping in at the last minute to oppose Frincu is Maicon Mendonca, who was already fighting on the card.
With all of the turmoil behind the promotion, Thursday’s weigh-ins went off without a hitch. Mendonca stepped to the scale and nailed it; he came in at 167.1 pounds. Not to be outdone, Frincu checked in at 170.5 pounds, giving the event the expected green light.
LFA 11 will begin its broadcast coverage on AXS TV beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
James Nakashima (169.8) vs. LaRue Burley (167.2)
Bruno da Silva (125.4) vs. Casey Kenney (125.6)
