Miles Johns is ready for his first walk to the Octagon at UFC Vancouver on Saturday.

The former Legacy Fighting Alliance bantamweight champion punched his ticket to the Ultimate Fighting Championship on Dana White's Contender Series earlier this summer. Contract in hand, he had his sights set on making his promotional debut in the same calendar year.

"I wanted something quick, I wanted a quick turnaround. I never got that in my career with LFA and had some injuries. It is sooner than I thought it would be, I was thinking November," Johns told Sherdog.com. "When I got the call, I was very happy."

For Johns, after watching Cole Smith make his first UFC appearance in May, he knew that would be a good fight for him. Seeing Smith's performance, the Fortis MMA product got his wish when asking to face Smith for his debut fight.

"When I saw him fight against Mitch Gagnon, I told my coach he would be a good fight for me, I want that fight. The next day after the Contender Series, I saw one tweet that said Cole Smith vs. Miles Johns in Vancouver could be realistic," he explained. "Coach gave me a call a little while later and said, 'you got the fight you wanted against Cole Smith in Vancouver.'"

Given he wanted this fight, Johns knows he cannot disappoint. He is confident he will get his hand raised and stop the local fighter in his tracks on Saturday.

"I love competing in someone's backyard. Just the energy he will bring and the crowd's energy cheering him on. I look forward to it," Johns concluded. "It will be fun to crash that party."
