RIZIN 19 Weigh-in Results: Everyone Makes Weight

By Cole Shelton Oct 11, 2019

Rizin Fighting Federation is back on Saturday in Osaka, Japan, for the opening round of the lightweight grand prix.

The main event of the card sees Kai Asakura (134.2) vs. Yuta Sasaki (134) at bantamweight. Asakura picked up the biggest win of his career in August when he knocked out Rizin bantamweight king Kyoji Horiguchi in a non-title fight. His opponent Sasaki dropped his last fight, suffering the first loss by north-south choke in Rizin history to Shintaro Ishiwatari in July. In the co-headliner, Rizin light heavyweight champ Jiri Prochazka (215.8) takes on former Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Fabio Maldonado (220.1) in a 100kg (220.4-pound) catchweight contest. Prochazka won the belt by exacting revenge on Muhammed Lawal in a rematch of their 2015 battle, while Maldonado last knocked out Thiago Silva Batista in December.

Rizin 19 airs live on Fite.TV on Saturday at 1 a.m. ET/10 p.m. PT. The card also features a de facto atomweight title eliminator between Miyuu Yamamoto (107.9) and former UFC strawweight Seo Hee Ham (107.9), while Rena Kubota (111.8) welcomes Alexandra Alvare Carlos (109.8) to the Rizin ring in a 112-pound catchweight affair.
