The Ultimate Fighting Championship is looking to put on a bantamweight thriller as the headliner of a Fight Night card in October.

Moraes rebounded from a championship defeat to Henry Cejudo in June 2019 with a split verdict over Jose Aldo in December that actually earned Aldo the next title shot. Although the former World Series of Fighting champ has only competed seven times inside the Octagon to date, he has racked up wins over names including Aljamain Sterling, Raphael Assuncao and the aforementioned Aldo. Prior to signing with the UFC, “Magic” went a perfect 11-0 in WSOF, with seven stoppage wins across that stretch.
Sandhagen will look to bounce back from his first defeat under the UFC banner – and his first stoppage loss – when he takes on Moraes. Sandhagen competed in a de facto bantamweight title eliminator in his last time out, and suffered a first-round submission loss to Sterling in under 90 seconds. Before the loss, the Elevation Fight Team product notched five consecutive wins in the UFC to race up the rankings, beating the likes of Assuncao and John Lineker on his fast rise in under two years.
The UFC Fight Night event on Oct. 1 will likely take place either at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas or on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Also scheduled to compete on the card include a heavyweight pairing of Ben Rothwell vs. Marcin Tybura, while Markus Perez will return to the cage against Rodolfo Vieira at middleweight.
