On Friday morning, Ricky Glenn announced on the KJ MMA Show that he would no longer be competing at UFC Fight Night 203 against Drew Dober (23-11, 1 NC) due to a groin injury. In his stead will be the recently victorious Terrance McKinney (12-3), with the news of this first coming from the UFC itself. The two lightweights will battle it out inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on March 12.

“A matchup I’ve been preparing a long time, really hard, feeling really good, and unfortunately [I] got injured,” Glenn explained. “I thought maybe I’d be able to work around it, but unfortunately I gotta pull out – and this is my first time making it public, haven’t posted anything on social media yet. Kinda gone through the medical process and things, and [an] MRI showed a complete tear of a tendon in my groin-leg area. So, gotta get surgery on that, and it’s a quick recovery if I can get surgery soon, and hopefully I’ll able to get a matchup. Late summer is the plan now, little bit of a delay, unfortunately, but now I’m taking it day-by-day. Looking forward to recovery and getting back to full training.”

McKinney will enter this bout having won in his last time out against Fares Ziam at UFC Fight Night 202, with a turnaround of two weeks between that win and this short-notice replacement spot. As a pro, “T.Wrecks” has never gone the distance, with all 12 of his career wins coming by stoppage under the 11-minute mark. While unsuccessful on his 2019 jaunt on Dana White's Contender Series, McKinney rattled off a trio of quick knockouts to claim his place on the roster in June 2021. From there, McKinney dazzled with a seven-second knockout of Matt Frevola, and he followed it up with his speedy submission of Ziam.

Dober will be looking to get back on the winning track after suffering defeats at the hands of Islam Makhachev and Brad Riddell in 2021. The loss to Makhachev put an end to a three-fight knockout streak for the Nebraskan, who had stopped Marco Polo Reyes, Nasrat Haqparast and Alexander Hernandez to get a crack at the top-ranked Makhachev. After losing to Makhachev, he faced Riddell and fell short by decision.

UFC Fight Night 203 remains solid at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas with its 14-fight lineup topped by a light heavyweight clash between Thiago Santos and Magomed Ankalaev. Drawing the co-main assignment for the March 12 event is a bantamweight battle pitting ex-title challenger Marlon Moraes against rising star Yadong Song. Other key matchups on the card include a featherweight scrap between Sodiq Yusuff and Alex Caceres as well as a middleweight brawl when Alex Pereira takes on Bruno Silva.
