Roxanne Modafferi, Jennifer Maia Set for Rematch at UFC on ESPN 4

After losing her initial opponent, Roxanne Modafferi will remain on the UFC on ESPN 4 card and face Jennifer Maia in a rematch on July 20 in San Antonio.

Modafferi was initially slated to meet Liz Carmouche before “Girl-Rilla” was moved to the UFC Uruguay headliner against reigning flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko. ESPN was first to report the new matchup. UFC on ESPN 4 takes place at the AT&T Center and is headlined by a welterweight duel between Rafael dos Anjos and Leon Edwards.

Modafferi and Maia initially squared off at Invicta FC 19 in September 2016, with Maia taking a split-decision triumph.

Modafferi last appeared at UFC Fight Night 149, where she captured a split verdict over Antonina Shevchenko. She is 2-3 in the UFC and 23-15 as a professional overall.

Maia has won seven of her last eight bouts. After falling to Carmouche in her Octagon debut, the former Invicta champion outpointed Alexis Davis at UFC Nashville for her first promotional triumph.
