Rustam Khabilov-Danny Castillo Lightweight Fight Targeted for UFC 182 on Jan. 3

A lightweight clash pitting Rustam Khabilov against Danny Castillo has been targeted UFC 182, according to a report from “UFC Tonight.”

A source close to the bout confirmed to that the matchup is in the works for the Jan. 3 event. UFC 182 takes place in Las Vegas and is expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight title tilt between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, as well as a women’s bantamweight championship duel between Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano.

Khabilov began his UFC career with triumphs over Vinc Pichel, Yancy Medeiros and Jorge Masvidal. In his most recent outing, the Jackson-Wink MMA product was submitted by former 155-pound king Benson Henderson in the main event at UFC Fight Night Albuquerque.

Castillo has lost two of his last three in the Octagon, dropping hard-fought decisions against Edson Barboza and Tony Ferguson. The Team Alpha Male representative is 7-4 during his UFC tenure overall, with victories over the likes of Joe Stevenson, Anthony Njokuani and Tim Means.
