A welterweight contest between Nick
Thompson and Eduardo
Pamplona has been added to Shine Fights “Worlds Collide:
Mayorga vs. Thomas” on May 15 at the Crown Coliseum in
Fayetteville, N.C. Both fighters are making their promotional
debuts.
Thompson, a UFC, Sengoku, and Strikeforce veteran, will look to rebound from back-to-back losses to Dan Hornbuckle at Sengoku “Ninth Battle” last September and middleweight Tim Kennedy at Strikeforce Challengers 2 in June 2009. The 28-year-old Thompson boasts a 2009 unanimous decision over explosive striker Paul Daley, who meets Josh Koscheck at UFC 113 in May.
Pamplona totes a seven-fight win streak into the promotion, which
includes his July 2009 nod against Do Hyung
Kim at M-1 Challenge 17 in Seoul, South Korea.
“Worlds Collide” will feature a main-event bout between former pro boxer Ricardo Mayorga and seasoned American Top Team fighter Din Thomas, a nine-time UFC veteran. The 35-year-old Mayorga, a former WBA and WBC welterweight champion who built a 28-7-1 record in boxing, will be making his MMA debut. The bout will be fought at a 160-pound catch-weight.
Shine Fights “Worlds Collide: Mayorga vs. Thomas” will air live on pay-per-view in North America beginning at 9 p.m. EST, according to a news release.
