UFC 209 Weigh-in Results: Khabib Nurmagomedov-Tony Ferguson Fight Cancelled

One of 2017’s most anticipated fights has been canned.

The UFC 209 co-feature will not take place as Khabib Nurmagomedov did not weigh-in and was deemed medically unfit to compete against Tony Ferguson.

Rumors swirled early Friday that Nurmagomedov had been hospitalized due to a tough weight cut. Ultimate Fighting Championship officials later confirmed that Nurmagomedov had been released from the hospital but was not cleared to take the scale.

The last time Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson locked horns, they battled it out over five grueling, exciting rounds. While Woodley retained his UFC welterweight title at UFC 205 last November, he didn’t walk out of the Octagon as the victory; neither did Thompson.

After the two went to war in what wound up being a majority draw, Woodley and Thompson have decided to go at it again, to see which 170-pounder is the best. The two will collide in the main event of UFC 209 (current odds) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Saturday night and at Friday’s weigh-ins, both combatants came in locked and loaded but more importantly, they came in on weight.

Thompson was the first of the featured fighter to step onto the scale and “Wonderboy” nailed it. Thompson checked in officially at 169 pounds, clearing the final hurdle for the most crucial fight of his career. “The Chosen One” was next and like he’s been all week, Woodley was calm and focused. The champ tipped the scale at 170.
