UFC, PFL Veteran Ronny Markes Signs Contract with Bellator MMA

Ronny Markes has signed an exclusive, multi-fight contract to compete in Bellator MMA’s heavyweight division.

Sherdog.com confirmed the signing with a promotion official on Tuesday following an initial report from MMAjunkie.com. A date and opponent for Markes’ promotional debut have not been set.

Markes competed at middleweight in the UFC and at light heavyweight in the Professional Fighters league, where he recently completely a four-bout stint. Markes struggled making weight at 205 pounds during his tenure with PFL. The 31-year-old Brazilian owns a 19-7 career mark that includes a 3-2 UFC record.

Markes recently took to social media to express interest in a matchup against ex-UFC heavyweight champion and recent Bellator signee Josh Barnett.
