Former UFC heavyweight Juan Adams could potentially get his shot in Professional Fighters League later this month.

Adams announced via Facebook that he has signed with the promotion as an alternate and will weigh in ahead of the PFL 5 event on June 24. PFL 5 takes place at Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta and features primarily heavyweight and featherweight competitors in the second regular season event for both weight classes.

“Just signed the contract for [PFL]. I will be an alternate, meaning that if anyone can’t fight for whatever reason i get my shot,” Adams wrote. “I weigh in June 23 either way in Atlanta. My sponsors are set and i just want to thank all of them, as well as my fans for staying by me through the difficult process of finding a willing opponent, especially [Fury FC] for allowing me this opportunity.

“It’s no secret that plans don’t always unfold our way, but trusting in the timing of higher powers outside of my understanding has made way for numerous opportunities. There’s six months left in this year and i plan to make the most of them.”

The 30-year-old Adams earned a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series and went 1-3 in the Octagon before parting ways with the Las Vegas-based promotion. “The Kraken” has since been victorious in four of five appearances under the Fury FC banner, including a first-round TKO of Aaron Rosa this past February.
