The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to ESPN airwaves for the second straight week with UFC on ESPN 27, featuring a disgraced former champion.
The 11-fight event is now official after the weigh-ins took place, and all 22 fighters successfully made weight. The event is headlined by a bout between Cory Sandhagen and T.J. Dillashaw, in what is the former bantamweight champ's return since being suspended for taking performance-enhancing drugs.
The 29-year-old Sandhagen (14-2) is currently on a roll, having gone 7-1 inside the promotion. "Sandman" bounced back from a submission loss to current champ Aljamain Sterling by knocking out Marlon Moraes with a spinning wheel kick and punches. Sandhagen then followed that up with a spectacular flying knee KO of Frankie Edgar to put him in this possible title eliminator match. Sandhagen stepped on the scale at 136 pounds even.
This is the first fight for Dillashaw (16-4) since he was finished by Henry Cejudo in just 32 seconds in his unsuccessful trip down to flyweight back in January 2019. Dillashaw previously had won the bantamweight belt for the second time by knocking out Cody Garbrandt twice. The 35-year-old also weighed 136 pounds.
UFC on ESPN 27 will air in its entirety on ESPN and ESPN+. Prelims start at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT, while the main card begins at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
