Gegard Mousasi is once again Bellator MMA middleweight champion.
The UFC and Strikeforce champion claimed the vacant 185-pound strap
for a second time with a five-round verdict against reigning
welterweight king Douglas
Lima in the Bellator 251 headliner this past Thursday. Mousasi
has won 10 of his last 11 professional appearances — a run that
includes triumphs over the likes of Lima, Lyoto
Machida, Rory
MacDonald, Chris
Weidman, Uriah Hall,
Vitor
Belfort and Thiago
Santos, to name a few.
Meanwhile, Uriah Hall shook off a slow start to end Anderson Silva’s Octagon tenure in unceremonious fashion with a fourth-round technical knockout victory in the UFC Fight Night 181 headliner on Saturday. “Primetime” is currently trending upward at middleweight with three consecutive victories — tied for the longest winning streak of his UFC tenure.
