Women’s Atomweight
1. Seika Izawa (16-0) | Rizin [1]
Izawa continued to roll at Super Rizin 4 on July 27, when she used an arm-triangle choke to submit Yu Jin Shin in the opening stanza of their bout. The contest was originally slated to be a super atomweight title fight but was moved to strawweight when Shin missed weight. Izawa has finished six of her last seven triumphs by way of submission dating back to 2023.2. Elisandra Ferreira de Oliveira (9-2) | Invicta [2]
Ferreira de Oliveira successfully defended her atomweight crown for the first time in the Invicta FC 61 headliner, taking a five-round verdict over Ana Palacios at the Grand Casino Hotel & Resort in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on April 4. The 27-year-old has won five straight contests within the all-women’s promotion, a run that also includes triumphs over Andressa Romero, Katie Saull, Flor Hernandez and Marisa Messer-Belenchia.Advertisement
3. Namiko Kawabata (6-4) | Jewels [3]
Despite her opponent missing weight at Deep Jewels 49, Kawabata was undeterrred, as she utilized a triangle armbar to dispatch former Pancrase champion Honoka Shigeta in the second round of their super atomweight clash on May 25. The 38-year-old Mouri Dojo product has rebounded from a three-bout losing streak that occurred from 2023 to 2024 to post victories in consecutive outings.4. Si Yoon Park (6-4) Jewels [4]
Park’s bid to retain her atomweight belt came up short in the Deep Jewels 44 main event, where she succumbed to a Seika Izawa ninja choke in the second round of their encounter in Tokyo. That setback snaps a five-bout winning streak for the South Korean, who remains the reigning atomweight queen in the Black Combat promotion.5. Andressa Romero (7-5-1) | Invicta [5]
One bout removed from her upset victory over Deep Jewels microweight queen Saori Oshima, Romero was unable to claim atomweight gold at Invicta FC 57, where she fell to Elisandra Ferreira de Oliveira via unanimous decision at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. It marked the second consecutive atomweight appearance for “Gauchinha,” who moved down from strawweight after losing three of her last four outings at 115 pounds.6. Ye Ji Lee (6-7) | Deep [8]
Lee pulled off an upset at Deep 125, taking a unanimous verdict against Saori Oshima on May 5 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. The 25-year-old South Korean has won three of her last four bouts, and her loss to Moeri Suda has aged well given Suda’s recent victory over Ayaka Hamasaki. Given Lee’s relative youth, the best could be yet to come for the Team AOM product.7. Saori Oshima (15-6) | Jewels [9]
Oshima snapped a two-fight skid at Deep 127 Impact, where she defeated Moeri Suda via unanimous decision at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on Sept. 15. “Little Giant” improves to 2-0 against Suda; she also submitted her rival in the opening stanza of their bout at Deep Jewels 37 in May 2022.8. Moeri Suda (14-7) Jewels [6]
Suda fell to 0-2 against Saori Oshima, as she dropped a three-round verdict in their bout at Deep 127 Impact on Sept. 15 in Tokyo. The 21-year-old known as “Black Diamond” had been victorious in her previous four outings, earning notable victories over the likes of Ye Ji Lee and Ayaka Hamasaki during that run.9. Ayaka Hamasaki (25-7) | Rizin [7]
Facing an opponent less than half her age, Hamasaki succumbed to a first-round rear-naked choke from Moeri Suda in the Deep Jewels 48 headliner on March 23. The 42-year-old Hamasaki, who made a successful return to action following a two-year hiatus in November 2024, has lost three of her last five professional outings but remains one of the most respected names in the division.10. Rena Kubota (15-5) | Rizin [10]
Kubota shone at Super Rizin 3, busting up Kate Oyama with second-round punches at Saitama Super Arena. While the popular kickboxer remains near the bottom of the Top 10 for now thanks to some head-to-head losses, she figures to have plenty of chances to elevate her stock in the near future, thanks to Rizin’s working relationships with most other promotions with atomweight divisions.Other Contenders: Kanna Asakura, Satomi Takano, Chihiro Sawada, Anastasia Nikolakakos, Ana Palacios.
Sherdog’s divisional and pound-for-pound rankings are compiled by a panel of Sherdog.com staff members and contributors: Tristen Critchfield, Mike Fridley, Brian Knapp, Ben Duffy, Jay Pettry, Marcelo Alonso, Keith Shillan, Tyler Treese, Sayan Nag, Christian Stein and Rob Sargent.
