After his impressive win over Brandon Royval and the polite call out to the champion Brandon Moreno, whom he has already defeated twice, Alexandre Pantoja is likely to be the next flyweight title contender.
In the following exclusive interview with Sherdog, Pantoja revealed that in the month before the fight he was passing through a very tough moment in his personal life.
“I spent a lot of money to bring my family to the USA and I was broke, working with Uber to afford my basic accounts. It was crazy that one week I got $100 from Uber and in the following one, after getting a bonus, I got $100,000 thousand from the UFC.”
Pantoja also talked about his expectations for a third fight against Moreno and revealed the reason for his personal rivalry with Sean O'Malley that started after a sparring session at MMA Lab.
“He is a nerd who thinks that [he is] a gangster for [getting] some tattoos and smoking marijuana. The UFC is giving easy fights to him; he wouldn't last one round with Raoni Barcellos. My priority now is to fight for the belt, but after that I would love to go up only to give him a lesson in the bantamweight division.”
