The ordering process for Ultimate Fighting Championship pay-per-views has changed: UFC 248 is only available on ESPN+ in the U.S.
Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight prospect Austin Hubbard managed to get back in the win column in September, some four months after he came up short in his promotional debut. Despite the win inside the Octagon, a reign as Legacy Fighting Alliance champion and an 11-3 record, he heads into UFC 248 on Saturday as the underdog against undefeated Olympic silver medalist Mark O. Madsen. However, Hubbard does not see it as a slight.
“I can see why [I’m the underdog],” he told Sherdog.com. “He [has] high-level credentials and stuff. I’m relatively newer, and I don’t have a big following like him on Instagram and things like that. Yeah, I’ve won the LFA title, won a few other regional titles, but I can see why he gets that credit, why I’m the underdog. I do love being the underdog [and] proving people wrong. I’ve fought a handful of undefeated fighters, and so far, I’m undefeated against all of them, so I like handing out that first loss. Definitely looking forward to doing that.”
In this exclusive interview, Madsen breaks down his forthcoming bout, discusses his win at UFC Fight Night 158 and explains how getting his first victory in the organization was a relief. Plus, he touched on the relationships he had built with Elevation Fight Team stablemates Neil Magny, Justin Gaethje and Corey Sandhagen.
