David Michaud Expects to See the Same Old Rory MacDonald in PFL

“Bulldawg” believes he already knows all that needs to be known about his upcoming opponent.

A few days ago, the Professional Fighters League announced that David Michaud (18-6, 3-2 PFL) would be welcoming former Bellator MMA 170-pound champion Rory MacDonald to the welterweight roster. The pair will headline the second PFL card of 2021’s Regular Season, which will go down on April 29. Michaud isn’t expecting to see the “Red King” doing anything that doesn’t fit his style, and that includes rushing to get a finish in the opening round.

“I don’t see that happening,” he said. “Maybe, just because with the system point goes for the PFL, he’ll pick it up a little bit more. He’s always kind of been more of a not slower pace but a very consistent fighter. He’s not going to do anything and try to get outside of himself and try to get a finish where he doesn’t need to.”

In the past, “Bulldawg” has been vocal about wanting a rematch with Ray Cooper III, who caught him with a body kick followed by a series of vicious punches in the PFL 2019 Season Finale. However, Michaud has to dethrone the “Red King” if he wants to meet Cooper again and avenge that loss.

“We got Ray Cooper, who has a win over me, and then Sadibou Sy,” he said. “I get two guys that I would love to avenge that loss to. I’d also want to face Magomed Magomedkerimov. There is a lot of guys that I could fight, a lot of guys who would be exciting matchups, really be easy to get up for and get excited for. Whoever is next after Rory doesn’t matter. Right now, I just have to worry to get in this first win.”
