UFC 304 Octagon Interview: Muhammad Mokaev on Bad Blood with Manel Kape

Kape and Mokaev carried buckets of bad blood into their flyweight feud, but the fight was weighed down by insignificant striking and egregious fouls. Mokaev hit Kape low and received a stern warning from referee Mike Beltran for pulling the shorts, but that didn’t stop him from clinching a unanimous decision win (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).

Mokaev (13-0, 1 NC) remains undefeated. However, while picking up a win over one of the most dangerous flyweights on the roster, it didn’t help his stock at all. The dirty moments and lack of power overshadowed his performance, and after all the build-up, the fight ultimately did not live up to the hype.
