10 Bouts Booked for UFC 130

Japanese standout Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto will square off with Chris Cariaso in a preliminary bantamweight matchup at UFC 130 “Edgar vs. Maynard 3” on May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Ten bouts are now official for the event, which will air live on pay-per-view.

Yamamoto (Pictured), 34, last appeared at UFC 126 in February, when he came up short in his promotional debut against the world-ranked Demetrious Johnson, losing a unanimous decision. The 2005 K-1 Hero’s middleweight grand prix winner has lost three of his past four bouts. Wins over former Dream featherweight champion Bibiano Fernandes, 2007 Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships gold medalist Rani Yahya, 2000 Olympian Kazuyuki Miyata and two-time UFC lightweight title contender Caol Uno highlight the Yamamoto resume. He has secured more than half (13) of his 18 career victories by knockout or technical knockout.

A San Francisco-based muay Thai practitioner, Cariaso has rattled off five wins in six outings. The 29-year-old Californian made his first Octagon appearance at UFC “Fight for the Troops 2” in January, when he posted a unanimous decision over Will Campuzano at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. Seven of Cariaso’s 11 professional victories have come by decision.

A rematch pairing lightweight champion Frankie Edgar with unbeaten challenger Gray Maynard will headline UFC 130. The two world-ranked fighters fought to a draw at UFC 125 on New Year’s Day. In addition, UFC 130 will also feature a showdown pitting one-time light heavyweight king Quinton “Rampage” Jackson against “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 alum Matt Hamill and a heavyweight duel matching former champion Frank Mir with “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 10 winner Roy Nelson.
