According to the Argentine, the attack took place due to comments she made online about the assailant’s performance in a fight. Perez further said that the attack was an attempt to make her pull out of the fight.
“So pretty much, I am someone just like everyone else, like you,
like you. I don’t have a personal problem with anyone,” Perez said
during a post-fight
scrum. “What I did is I stated my opinion online about a fight.
I didn’t disrespect anyone. I didn’t talk bad about anyone. But
this irrelevant lady came up to me after I opinionated about one of
her fights, just talking about the performance that she did. She
came to assault me and she did assault me with the intention to
make me pull out of my fight. But I’m sorry she didn’t achieve it.
I won and fought regardless of the assault that took place.”
When asked about the the attacker, Perez declined to identify the person in question.
“Honestly, I don’t remember,” she said. “This was my moment to shine and I won.”
The UFC has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
Perez has won back-to-back fights in the Octagon after dropping her promotional debut to Stephanie Egger at UFC Fight Night 209.
