Lorenz Larkin has yet to visit the winner’s circle in Bellator MMA -- a fact he hopes to soon change.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran clocked in at 180 pounds in advance of his catchweight showdown with an overweight Fernando Gonzalez (*180.3) in the Bellator 193 main event on Friday at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California. It marked the third consecutive miss on the scale for Gonzalez, who will be fined a significant percentage of his pay: 20 percent of his purse and an additional 20 percent of his win bonus should he be victorious. Lightweight co-headliners Saad Awad (155.4) and J.J. Ambrose (155.7) also hit their intended marks at Thursday’s official weigh in.
Bellator 193 “Larkin vs. Gonzalez” -- which airs live on Paramount at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT -- will also feature a middleweight clash pitting Kendall Grove (185.7) against A.J. Matthews (183) and a lightweight encounter pairing Steve Kozola (155.8) with Jake Smith (156). Meanwhile, blue-chip heavyweight prospect Tyrell Fortune (239.7) highlights the undercard, as he faces Joe Hernandez (259).
